Milton Keynes Breakers are back in NBL Division 1 action this weekend as they travel north to face Bradford Dragons.
The Breakers started life in Division 1 with a convincing 62-83 win over Essex Rebels last weekend. Adrian Scarborough led the scoring for the Breakers with 27 points, which he followed up with an impressive 19 rebounds. Nate Robinson and KJ Johnson both featured with 15 points, with Chris Tawiah netting 13 to join them in double figures.
Bradford Dragons, meanwhile, began their campaign with a narrow 87-79 defeat at the hands of Hemel Storm. Jordan Whelan topped the scoring charts with 24 points, with Kofi Joseph (20), and Oscar Baldwin (14), both hitting double figures.
The two sides met in the Quarter-Final of the KitKing Trophy earlier this year, with the Breakers coming out with a 95-68 win. Both Robinson and Johnson led the scoring with 20 points to guide the Breakers to victory on that day. The short-handed Dragons were led by Jevon Laidler with 16 points.
Speaking on the start of life in NBL Division 1, Coach Billy Beddow-Patel added “It was great to start the regular season with a win in Essex last weekend. We were a little slow getting out of the gates, but I was pleased with our second half performance and we’ll be looking to carry that form in to this weekend’s game against Bradford. We are expected a difficult test at Bradford this weekend. They will have Jordan Whelan back in the lineup, who is key for them. It’s also a notoriously difficult place to play, so we’ll need to put our best foot forward as we try to go 2-0.”
