See Milton Keynes like never before with triathlon challenge

Next month, Willen Lake will become the centrepiece of one of the UK's newest closed-road triathlon events.

The ATW Milton Keynes Closed-Road Triathlon - on Sunday 13 September - will give competitors a unique opportunity to experience the city from an entirely different perspective.

Athletes will begin with a swim in the calm waters of Willen Lake before heading onto a fully closed-road bike course, allowing them to ride traffic-free through Milton Keynes—something rarely possible outside of major sporting events. The race finishes with a flat and scenic run around the lake, surrounded by the green spaces that have become one of the city's defining features.

Milton Keynes is often celebrated for its extensive parkland, redways and iconic Concrete Cows, making it an ideal setting for an event that combines sport with some of the area's best outdoor scenery.

Whether participants are aiming for a personal best or simply completing their first triathlon, they'll enjoy a race experience that showcases everything Milton Keynes has to offer.

As the city's newest triathlon gets ready for its inaugural event, organisers hope it will become a fixture on the local sporting calendar, attracting competitors from across the UK while giving local residents another reason to be proud of their hometown.

Sometimes the best way to see a place is simply to experience it from a new perspective—and this September, hundreds of athletes will do exactly that.
