Mathnasium students exceed expectations in Milton Keynes

Maths education specialist Mathnasium has confirmed that 85% of its students met or improved on their predicted GCSE grades this year.

The results are up 3% on 2025.  50% improved by a grade or more compared to their prediction.

Mathnasium, which has a centre in Milton Keynes, develops bespoke learning plans following assessment, and this tailored approach has helped hundreds of pupils bridge the grade gap.

For year 11 students taking their GCSEs this year, 90% of Mathnasium students across the UK achieved Grade 4+ compared with 72% nationally, while 45% of Mathnasium students achieved Grade 7+ compared with 22% nationally.

Further, 63% of students predicted to fail went on to pass with Mathnasium.

When it came to supporting those re-sitting GCSEs, Mathnasium UK students achieved a 69% pass rate compared to 15% nationally, with 22% improving by two or more grades compared to their prediction.

“In Milton Keynes I’m delighted to confirm that several of our students who were predicted to fail passed and a few others jumped several grades higher than predicted too," said Rene Scholtz, Centre Owner, Mathnasium of Milton Keynes.

"A special mention must go to two of our pupils who joined us two years ago.  Having reached their final senior school years with maths skills at a primary level, they showed remarkable progress, both passing their GCSE maths exams this year.  We are proud to see how much their confidence has grown.”

Rene Scholtz is a chartered accountant with a background in finance working for multi-national corporations.

He opened Mathnasium Milton Keynes in May 2024, after seeing his own daughter struggling with maths at school.  Rene says: “My daughter was behind with her studies and I didn’t like the other options available for tuition.  Then, I found Mathnasium and realised how the bespoke learning programmes could help my daughter get ahead.  It inspired me to open my own maths learning centre to help other children progress with their learning too.”

Since the launch of Mathnasium Milton Keynes the team have earned an excellent reputation in the community.  They also have good relationships with local schools and are currently working on sponsorship opportunities.

“For some students this time of year means going back to school with a bump," he said, "However, it it’s important to remember that September also represents a great time to address any summer learning loss and take a fresh approach to maths and it’s essential not to leave it until too late.  We work with children from reception right through to GCSEs.  One client, whose daughter we helped through her GCSEs, has now enrolled her younger son to ensure he has the right skills in plenty of time ahead of his exams.

“At Mathnasium, our bespoke learning plans help students build the right skills whether that’s mastering fractions, algebra or geometry.  As understanding grows so too does confidence, problem solving and critical thinking ability.  Our proven system delivered by our experienced team in a welcoming, friendly environment is specifically designed for students to achieve, and our numbers now demonstrate the success of our student-centred approach.”
