Carly, from the MKFM team, was invited to see Grease The Musical at Milton Keynes Theatre, running until Saturday 10th August and here is her full review…
We settled into our seats at MK Theatre and as the show opened at Rydell High School, Vince Fontaine said “Be kind to everyone around”, making me realise what a treat and a distraction theatre is from the real world at the moment.
The energy and enthusiasm from the stage was infectious and was probably because you could believe that these cast members were young enough to actually be at high school. Fans of the film will know that was a very different story with the film cast!
There were a lot of familiar lines and songs however they were used in different scenes making you wonder what was going to happen next. “We go together” took us into the interval and it’s all that could be heard in the ladies room!
Being there with one of my best friends from school we were reminiscing over the sleepovers we had watching the movie and girls nights where Grease songs had us running for the dance floor!
The choreography by Arlene Phillips is something else! I loved it when the whole company hand jived along the edge of the stage, it really was a sight to behold. As were the box fresh Converse that featured throughout!
We had a brilliant evening and if you get the opportunity to go and see Grease The Musical you will definitely end your evening dancing in the aisles!
