Milton Keynes teacher honoured at Buckingham Palace

Head recognised for services to education.

A secondary school teacher has been formally recognised for her services to education at a meeting in Buckingham Palace.

Toni Whiteman, the Head of School at Hazeley Academy in Milton Keynes, was invited to the Palace as part of a prestigious royal event celebrating individuals who have made a significant impact in their respective fields.

She was among a select group of educators recognised for going above and beyond to inspire and support young people.

“It was an incredible honour to be invited to Buckingham Palace,” said Toni. “This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of our entire school community – staff, students and families – who make our school such a special place.”

“Miss Whiteman has dedicated 30 years of service to education, over a decade of which has been at 5D Hazeley,” said Tony Nelson, CEO of the 5 Dimensions Trust responsible for Hazeley Academy.

“How many other heads would be bold enough to have over 200 Year 6 students enjoying a sleepover as part of their transition or still regularly commit to taking groups of student participants out on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions?

“She arrives at school every morning at 6am, equipped with a wealth of experience and a positive mindset consistently bringing to life the schools’ values of character, confidence, creativity, contributing and community.”

The recognition comes at a meaningful time, as The Hazeley Academy prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. Plans are underway to mark two decades of learning, growth and community spirit.
