A popular laundry service for Milton Keynes is being made available to more residents, in new city council plans.
Milton Keynes City Council is making the service available to increased numbers of residents so that more local people with health or mobility needs can get affordable, convenient support with their washing basket.
Previously only available to older residents and those receiving adult social care, the service has been expanded following growing demand and is now open to families of disabled children, carers, and people with medical or mobility issues including temporary, such as recovering from illness.
The council's laundry team currently supports residents across Milton Keynes who struggle with keeping clothes, household linen and towels clean. It includes rural communities by collecting, cleaning and returning laundry directly to customers' homes.
The service offers flexible options, including one-off collections and regular bookings, with clothing, bedding and larger items such as blankets and duvets cleaned and returned within a week.
A standard laundry bag (a medium load in a household machine) is priced at under £20.
“We know that keeping on top of laundry isn't always easy, whether because of health issues, caring responsibilities or a change in circumstances,” said Councillor Donna Fuller, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health, Community and Housing.
“This affordable, practical service can help take some of the pressure off day-to-day life, while offering the convenience of collection and delivery directly to your door.”
