Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust hosted a special celebration tea party.
Recognising the sustained contributions of 45 local NHS professionals whose combined years of unbroken service for the hospital topped 1,000 years this year!
In 2025, a total of 31 members of the trust team celebrated 25 years of unbroken service. A further six marked 30 years, five more notched up 35 years and three have dedicated a remarkable 40 years to caring for local patients.
At a special afternoon tea - prepared by the hospital’s own catering team - Chief Executive, Joe Harrison, and Chair, Heidi Travis, thanked the long-serving colleagues for their consistent contributions.
“Our long-serving colleagues have devoted their working lives to the health of the city,” Joe said, “They are an asset to local patients and an inspiration to the rest of the team. Congratulations to each one of them for showing such commitment to their vital work.”
Speaking about her 35 year-long working life at MKUH, Senior Sister Caroline Middleton said: “Back when I started, the hospital had carpets which were much harder to manage than today's more hygienic vinyl flooring! The team is like family to me. We’ve been through all sorts, including a pandemic when I was in charge of a surgical ward which became one of our first covid wards. I’ll never tire of my job because I am so proud to be a nurse.
“We are the people that patients always remember, and being appreciated by them and their loved ones means the world to me,” Caroline added.
