Milton Keynes heritage days back for September

    Great Linford Manor Park

250 events over 10 days, and they’re all free.

Milton Keynes will celebrate its rich heritage this month with a series of free family events designed to offer something for everyone.

The Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days will include guided walks, historic talks, cycle rides, creative workshops, open days, exhibitions, film screenings, storytelling, craft workshops, and musical performances. And they are all free for the 10-day event, which runs from Friday 12th to Sunday 21st September.

Families can take a trip on the Electra canal boat, learn about the city’s parks, enjoy a guided bike ride, play board games, hear stories, visit a mediaeval fair, explore a museum dedicated to Lego, find out about bees, enjoy time together and create some great memories.

Key attractions opening their doors for free include Milton Keynes Museum, Great Linford Manor Park, Westbury Arts Centre, Milton Keynes Discovery Centre, The Stables Theatre, Bletchley Park and the Cowper & Newton Museum in Olney.

The theme for this year is Architecture and there are more than 100 events making the most of the city’s architectural legacy, from ancient churches and farm building to modern marble and glass skyrises.

“It’s really encouraging to see so many of our organisations and communities getting involved in Heritage Open Days 2025 again,” said Cllr Shanika Mahendran, of MK City Council.

“Hosting 250 events over just 10 days is a huge achievement – and there’s something for everyone. With 109 events focused on this year’s theme of architecture, Milton Keynes is really celebrating its unique design legacy.

MK Heritage Open Days brochures can be found in the city’s libraries, supermarkets and here.
