Milton Keynes City Council’s city centre garden received Green Flag Award

Council maintained park officially recognised as one of the country’s best parks.

The award, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is a benchmark for quality parks and green spaces across the country. It celebrates places that are safe, clean, well-maintained, and that actively support biodiversity and community involvement.

The city council-owned park is one of around 200 parks and green spaces in the East of England region to receive Green Flag status in the 2025 awards.

Located in central Milton Keynes, next to the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, Fred Roche Gardens is named after one of Milton Keynes’ founding planners. Many people enjoy its split-level gardens as a quiet place with seating areas, public art, architecture, and nature. The gardens also play host to festivals, films and music throughout the year.

“I am delighted that our council-owned Fred Roche Gardens have been recognised with a Green Flag Award, which celebrates the hard work of our staff, as well as that of volunteers and partners. I’m proud to live in such a green and biodiverse city, and our green spaces are great places to spend time.”
