Portable charger made safe after flare-up smokes out property.
A fire crew was called to a house in Fairfields yesterday afternoon following reports of an incident involving reports of a battery exploding.
The firefighters, from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue, said the explosion produced white smoke inside the property, in Cicero Crescent. They made the scene safe and placed the affected portable charger in a bucket of water to reduce the risk of further reaction.
The home’s occupant was instructed to keep the battery submerged for 24 hours before contacting the council for disposal, while crew members carried out a Home Fire Safety Check.
