Fire crews cut driver out of car following Milton Keynes crash

Specialist equipment used to free motorist from wreckage.

Fire crews from three Milton Keynes stations helped at a road smash near Newport Pagnell last night.

The crews, from Broughton, Newport Pagnell and West Ashland, attended alongside a Technical Rescue Unit from Mereway, Northampton and officers. Thames Valley Police were also at the scene.

The smash, by the M1 North Services near Newport Pagnell, involved a heavy goods vehicle and two cars. The drivers of the HGV and one car were out of their vehicles uninjured when the fire services arrived. But the driver of the second car was trapped in their vehicle.

Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to release the driver and handed them into the care of South Central Ambulance. The motorway’s lanes one, two and three were closed, said Buckinghshire Fire & Rescue.
