Milton Keynes man Sha Khan is celebrating following his completion of the Chiltern Hills 100K Trail Ultra Marathon at the weekend.
What makes the achievement all the more impressive is that just two weeks before, he had completed the London Marathon - and Sha is blind.
“One of the challenges we faced was running in the dark, which for me made no difference, but my guides needed to be extra cautious,” he told MKFM, “One of the guides ran ahead as a ‘scout’ and the other had me on a waist tether due to the narrow paths.
“I lifted my feet higher when told to do so and just did my best,” he told us.
“I had the support of two very brave Guide Runners, Barney and David, who switched every hour or so through the entire race - they really helped make a dream come true as Guide Running is no easy task,” Sha told MKFM.
“The race organiser, Chris Brady of Runaway Racing, made the run so accessible, thanks to the incredible team of volunteers at the Aid Stations.”
Sha is understandably buzzing following these mammoth achievements: “It puts me into a very small category of Blind Runners, both, in the UK and globally, which is very cool indeed,” he reflected, “My reason for doing it is to be that example of what’s possible.
“It is a few days on since the race now and I already feel good, testament to my training.
Sha and his guides used the experience to raise money for the Guide Dogs charity, “…as I have a Guide Dog called Moby. What a clever boy he is,” Sha added.
