The ribbon will be cut on the Campbell Park Community Hub this Saturday.
The premises, on Springfield Boulevard, will be launched with live music, food, a bouncy castle and games, face painting and demonstrations.
The hub is situated on the site of the former Springfield pub, and has been years in the making.
“Repurposing an existing site for a different purpose involves many steps, with planning, flood mitigation and environmental requirements just some of the many hurdles we had to cross,” explained Clerk to Campbell Park Community Council, Dominic Warner.
Cross those hurdles they did, and the centre finally opened its doors over the summer.
The public facility already boasts a community cafe which opens seven days a week, perfect to support a sense of community, and a place where everyone can enjoy a little chat and a warm welcome.
Clubs and societies making use of the space with regular sessions include Yoga4Health, Citizens Advice Bureau, MK Lymphoma group, and Wallfinch Golden Memories Thrive Club.
A community larder will launch soon, and other community members heading up activity sessions or groups are urged to make contact if they would like to use the Comunity Hub.
To that end, a networking event this Wednesday (Sept 24) is a chance for charities and businesses to pop along, make acquaintances and enjoy a tour of the impressive space.
Community groups and local schools will also play their part at the launch event on Saturday, which runs from 11am to 4pm.
