She has been taking care of hair in the new city for more than 20 years, but this morning there will be no travelling to the salon, or racing across town for wash and blow-drys – because today Kirsty Harper is opening the doors on her 'ladies only' home salon.
Kirsty has a new purpose-built garden room in Brooklands where she can welcome clients old and new, promising all of the salon professionalism, but with less of the cost.
“I am so excited to finally be able to share this new working space with everyone. And having a setting outside of the home means my husband won't be bothered by the hairdryer!" she laughed.
“There can be a certain vulnerability when people have to put their trust in a hairdresser, and it's important to me that everyone I work with feels comfortable and at ease. And what is said in the chair, stays in the chair. It's a confidential space!” she promised.
Kirsty already has a healthy client-base from her time as a mobile hairdresser, but is keen to welcome new faces – girls and women seeking a new style or colour, perhaps people who don't like the public salon experience, or those who just need an appointment outside of regular hours.
You might know what you like and not want to deviate, or you might be open to a new hair-raising experience, in the best sense. Kirsty has the skills to assist regardless.
But what makes her service a cut above the rest?
“I think it's the affordability; working from home means I can pass on savings to my customers, and I pride myself on delivering a friendly, more relaxed service,” she told MKFM, “Some salons can make the customer feel like they are on a conveyor belt. I can promise you that it will never feel like that here.”
And, in a world where nothing seems to stay the same for long, Kirsty promises that the only chopping and changing going on at Brooklands Hair Lounge will be under the direction of the client!
