Could you help children in care in Milton Keynes?

Welcome to Reconstruct! A little bit about us...

Reconstruct (Children and Adult Services) Ltd was established in 1990 and is an independent organisation working with vulnerable children, young people and adults, as well as professionals, to bring about change and improve outcomes.

Our advocacy and befriending services are independent to social services. We strive to ensure that each person we support has a voice and feels empowered to build resilience and confidence in themselves.

We maintain the very highest of standards across our services and deeply value our workers and volunteers who will always go above and beyond for those they are supporting. We are friendly, flexible and accessible and wholly committed to the services we provide.

    Our values

    • We value our Independence
    • We are child centred and child led at all times
    • We maintain we are an equal opportunities employer and have a diverse workforce
    • We work collaboratively with relevant partners to deliver an outstanding service to our children and young people
    • We empower Children and young people to have a voice, and inform them of their rights

Quote from Milton Keynes Children's Service Coordinator:

I have worked with Reconstruct since August 2021 and thoroughly enjoy being a part of making a difference to Children of Milton Keynes. One of my services that I manage is Independent Visitors, these are volunteers who take a child in care out once a month to engage in an activity together. Independent visitors are crucial to children in care, they provide them with someone who is there because they want to be and not because they must be. Despite how rewarding this role is for the young person and the independent visitor we struggle to recruit volunteers. Another aspect that is a challenge is the tight budget of £15 per month for the activity and we are always looking for local businesses that can help support the independent visitors on this tight budget to allow them to engage in activities they may not otherwise be able to access.

Woburn Safari Park kindly offered to honour the budget of £15 per month and allowed the IV and the young person into the safari park for the day, as well as allowing them to make food for the meerkats and go into the enclosure to feed them their yummy treats. Without the generosity of Woburn Safari Park this is an activity that the budget just would not allow.
