Volunteers’ Week 2025 – a UK Wide Celebration.
Volunteers’ Week returns this year after reaching its 40th anniversary last year. From 2 to 8 June 2025, Community Action: MK will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.
Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.
Many will take part in awards ceremonies, coffee mornings and days out during the week. The celebrations aim to foster connections between national organisations and grassroots groups, celebrating the spirit of volunteering that enriches communities each year.
This Volunteers’ Week Community Action: MK will be celebrating volunteers across Milton Keynes, by hosting events to celebrate and mark Volunteers’ Week, as well as encouraging Milton Keynes volunteers to submit their volunteering stories to showcase and celebrate the wonderful and vital impact they have in their local community and across the City, through our communication channels! Groups or volunteers can submit their stories via a short form here.
On Tuesday 3rd June, Community Action: MK are running a Volunteer recruitment event in centre:MK, providing a great opportunity for local charities and community groups to showcase their opportunities and connect with new volunteers! If you are interested in having a stall, either in the morning or afternoon, please contact volunteering@communityactionmk.org
On Wednesday 4th June, Community Action: MK will also be hosting our celebratory event at MK Rose, Campbell Park, from 10.30am - 12pm. You can expect stories, networking, and a chance to contribute your own special thank you video to your volunteers who make it all happen! There will also be an opportunity to write your own tributes to your volunteers and tie it to the Volunteering Pillar that stands at MK Rose. It’s a celebratory event not to miss! Book a space here!
The week after Volunteers’ Week, Community Action: MK will also be following on from celebrating volunteers by running two training sessions for groups and organisations in Milton Keynes, following the launch of our brand new online volunteering hub! Groups can choose to sign up to an online session on Tuesday 10 June, or come along to the Old Bath House Wolverton on Thursday 12 June to learn more about the platform in person! Sign up here!
Volunteering Lead, Annette Parmar said: “Volunteers' Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make across the city. Volunteering in Milton Keynes transforms lives, strengthens communities, and fosters unity and compassion. I can’t express enough the difference volunteering has made to my life, I have volunteered since I was a teenager, it has been life changing. Through Volunteering I have made friends, learned new skills and even got the job of my dreams."
Volunteers’ Week is led by the UK Volunteering Forum, a partnership between the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), Volunteer Scotland, the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland.
The UK Volunteering Forum said: “Volunteers bring a richness to organisations across the country. There is no better time to recognise the diversity of our volunteers and celebrate the difference that volunteering makes than during Volunteers’ Week. Without volunteers many charities just simply could not function, with so many people giving up their time and going above and beyond. The week is a chance for all of us to show just how vital they are to charities and communities everywhere.”
